Back then, thousands of years ago, there was a golden age when Mana flourished, and all of the peoples of Fa' Diel – from the Humans to Faeries, from Jumi to elves, and from Demi-humans to Dragons – all were living with the blessing of the eight spirits of Mana, living in harmony with the Tree...

But things would soon change, as for some unknown reason, a witch burrowed into the trunk of the Tree, disrupting the Mana flow for her own greedy and wicked purposes, and starting all-out war for the power of Mana.

900 years ago, the Mana Tree burned to the ground, ceasing to exist, and the Holy Lands of Illusia were locked away in another dimension. As a result of this tragedy, countless wars broke out as the people of Fa' Diel fought for control of the last remnants of Mana...

Nine terrible centuries passed, and at last there is peace. The people of Fa' Diel are finally living together again without conflict – more or less. Yet the scars of war remain deep within the people's hearts, and old grudges and prejudices die hard, and the land itself bares the horrible burden of the wastes of warfare. It would take generations for the world to regain it's lost innocence, and even then, it would never be the same...

But that was the past, and this is now. Time has passed and people have moved on. Fa' Diel is now in an era of peace, and that was the important thing.

One night, a young and courageous girl named Anli Bolnivard recieved a mysterious and wondrous dream – a calling from a beautiful woman in an ancient and mythical place in danger of falling into the darkness. Spurred by the kind and loving words by a boy from her past, Anli decides to go on a journey to find the boy with the gentle and loving eyes and to fulfill the promise of strength and courage she made to him so many years ago.

On her way to the town of Domina, she met the traveling merchant Niccolo Ninbar, and they accompanied each other into town. Once there, she met the rough and brash, and noble-of-heart Jumi Knight of Lapis Lazuli, Elazul Rivelan. Elazul was frantically searching for his beloved Jumi Guardian, Pearl Chezarem, and Anli volunteered to help. They were soon joined by the rambunctious and energetic Elfin twins, Bud and Lisa Gwenvyre – orphans of whom Anli had decided to take in – and Niccolo Ninbar.

They wandered deep into the Mekiv Caverns, and were successful in rescuing the beautiful, shy and gentle Jumi Maiden, Pearl Chezarem, but not without a disturbing meeting with a mysterious red-haired woman and an encounter with a "Ghost Boy".

A few days would pass, Niccolo Ninbar has seen bid his farewells and left for Lumina. Elazul and Pearl stayed in Domina while Anli helped Bud and Lisa settle into their new home. But on this day, Elazul will be inspired on how to repay Anli for her kindness while Anli will learn something more about a boy Holy Knight who disappeared from Gato Grottoes nearly ten years ago...

While running an errand for a local merchant with Elazul, Anli learns more about the missing boy Holy Knight who disappeared from Gato Grottoes ten years ago. The news that he was forgotten and presumed dead distresses the girl, and she passionately vows to Elazul that she would find him and protect him – to become a Knight to protect another Knight. Inspired by her courage and as a thank you for helping find and rescue Pearl days before, Elazul presents her with a sword and offers to teach her the basics. As for Anli, the words of a nearly forgotten child-hood mentor spur her onward.

And thus, the story will continue...
